David Giles starting painting after a near death experience in 1993 propelled him to follow his passion. He has gone on to become a renowned artist with twenty art awards and fifty solo exhibitions to his name with shows in New York, Paris, Singapore, Bali and throughout Australia. The ABC made a documentary about him: How Art Changed my Life and he was cited by the Sunday Times as One of Australia’s most exciting contemporary painters.He has also featured in the World Wide Art Books publication, International Contemporary Masters and in numerous interior design and builders magazines. He also now owns two art galleries in Fremantle.

The David Giles Art Gallery, 49B High St and Studio Eleven, 11 Captains Lane. The David Giles Art Gallery hosts regular exhibitions of guest artists and showcases work by more than a dozen artists in the stockrooms. Studio Eleven houses five artists in residence including David Giles, Rita Said, Liliana Stafford, Carol-Ann Huging and Tricia Maiorana and is also home to the Freedom School, where Giles and runs his painting classes. Giles’ work has been described by the art critic Sonja Vujic as intuitive, spontaneous and inspirational, as profoundly numinous and deeply meditative and as taking us on a journey into a complex, fascinating ad evocative field of visual and poetic engagement Giles himself describes his work as journeys into the limitlessness of the imagination, into the vertigo of the truly sublime.Held in numerous collections worldwide, an original Giles painting will be a thing to treasure for all time and a mystical and wonder full addition to the interior design of any home or office.
